As an HR Advisor, Sarah’s role is to provide advice and support to HR Solutions’ clients in relation to any employee matters they may have.

Sarah’s previous HR experience within the Travel & Tourism sector saw her specialise in business change management whether it was selling a brand, closing an office, making redundancies or reorganising the workforce.

Sarah is CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) qualified and holds the Post Graduate Diploma in HR Management, which she completed at De Mont Fort University. She also holds the CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice which she completed at Tresham College. Sarah has always had an interest in HR as her Mum worked in a HR team, having completed her Certificate in Personnel Practice. Sarah first got involved in HR when the CEO’s personal assistant, of a travel company, asked her if she had seen a job advertisement for a HR Trainee, as she thought she’d be a good candidate. Sarah applied and got the job!

In addition to her HR Diploma, Sarah holds an AVCE (Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education UK) in Travel and Tourism, which she completed as she had always wanted to work with a cabin crew. Sarah said, “I hadn’t flown for a few years and as part of the course we took an overseas visit, which was when I realised I was scared of flying! However, I did want to use my qualification so I started working for a small holiday company specialising in selling Canary Island holidays. I then became a self-employed travel consultant, working from home, selling holidays to Egypt, Turkey and Cyprus via teletext. I did this for a few years but missed the face to face interaction with people, so I applied speculatively to work for a local tour operator in Market Harborough. I started off working in their call centre as a Customer Service Adviser but soon moved into their HR team as a HR Trainee. Following the completion of my Certificate in Personnel Practice I was promoted to HR Advisor. We were a team of 10 but after surviving multiple restructures and take overs I was only 1 of 2 HR Advisors left that made up the entire HR Team. Following the administration and final takeover by G Touring I decided to take voluntary redundancy after 11 years to start my family.”

Sarah became a Mum, and twelve months after she left G Touring, we were delighted to welcome her to HR Solutions as an HR Advisor. When not working in HR, Sarah is a keen F1 (Formula One) enthusiast and also enjoys taking part in escape room challenges. With her local team members she enjoys the challenge of trying out new escape rooms at various Northamptonshire based locations. Her team has only been locked in once so far!

Sarah’s Q&A

What is your greatest personal achievement?

My greatest personal achievement is not only having my beautiful daughter but actually for us all to survive the first year of motherhood!

What is your favourite quote?

My favourite quote is “It does not do well to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” ― Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I love this because it is so true. People spend far too much time chasing the next thing and they forget to enjoy what they have right now.

What is your favourite song and why?

My favourite song is ‘What do I know?’ by Ed Sheeran. I love this because it sums up the world that we live in.

What do you wish other people knew about HR Solutions?

I wish all businesses knew how cost effective outsourcing your HR to us can be, and also what a friendly team of knowledgeable staff they have access to for the price.
